Human Resources ParalegalThis position, under the general guidance of the Human Resources Director and Legal Counsel, applies an understanding and knowledge of legal concepts and processes to assist in the more efficient operations of Human Resources.Duties And Responsibilities:Monitor grievance filings, create files for all grievances and schedule hearingsAttend grievances or hearings to support attorney and the Director of Human ResourcesIntake, review and monitor Freedom of Information Act requests and work collaboratively with Legal CounselReview and redact responses to Freedom of Information Act requests with Legal CounselIdentify electronic data that is relevant to litigation and work with Legal Counsel to categorize, maintain, organize, store and distribute such dataReview case files for Legal Counsel and organize all correspondence, pleadings, and evidenceDraft and submit correspondence regarding internal investigationsSchedule and organize all interviews and meetings for internal investigationsCollect, review and draft legal documents and correspondenceAttend, document and maintain files for Union consultation meetings and all meetings pertaining to Human Resources/LegalManage and organize caseloads and/or multiple assignmentsAssist Legal Counsel in drafting and review of updates to legal documents, policies, regulations, and guidelinesCopy, file, organize and maintain all Union contracts and agreementsOrganize and maintain files regarding Union and Employee mattersSchedule and organize meetings for the Director of Human Resources and Legal CounselOrganize, maintain, and file documents regarding internal investigationsProvide administrative support to management and the departmentPerform other duties as requested and assignedRequired Qualifications:Skills /Abilities and Knowledge:Proficiency with Microsoft software, including Office Suite and TeamsExcellent organization skills and attention to detailTakes initiative to learn technological platformsStrong understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related mattersLegal research and investigative skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsSelf-motivated and self-initiatedExcellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlinesExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environmentAbility to work independentlyExcellent work ethicEducation/Certification:Paralegal certification or Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies or related field or equivalent experience requiredRelated Work Experience:5+ years paralegal or equivalent work experienceDays: Monday FridayApply at www.norwalkps.org Click "Employment"NORWALK IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERIt is the policy of the Norwalk Board of Education to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students and to prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or physical and mental disability in the school district's educational program and activities; and to prohibit unlawful discrimination in employment because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender; gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or physical and mental disability.
