Accounting Operations ManagerWashington, DC Area | Hybrid (1-2 Days Onsite)Our client is a rapidly growing, privately held real estate investment and development platform focused on large-scale infrastructure and commercial development projects throughout the DMV region.The organization operates a highly entrepreneurial environment with institutional capital backing and continues to experience significant growth across its investment and development platform. This position offers strong visibility to executive leadership and the opportunity to help build scalable accounting operations within a sophisticated multi-entity environment.Position OverviewThe Accounting Operations Manager will lead the day-to-day accounts payable function across a growing portfolio of corporate and property-level entities while helping build scalable processes, controls, and systems to support the organization's continued growth.This is a hands-on management role ideal for an operationally minded accounting professional who can balance day-to-day execution with process improvement, team leadership, and systems optimization. The organization is currently transitioning to Yardi as its primary ERP platform, and this individual will serve as a key stakeholder in the long-term management and optimization of AP workflows within the system.The role will report directly to senior accounting leadership with regular exposure to executive management and broader finance leadership teams.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day accounts payable function across multiple corporate and property-level entitiesSupervise and mentor AP staff while helping build and scale the AP team over timeReview and improve AP workflows, controls, policies, and proceduresSupport the organization's transition and long-term utilization of YardiManage vendor onboarding, payment approvals, wire setups, and disbursement workflowsOversee 1099 processing and related compliance requirementsCoordinate invoice processing related to development projects, construction activity, property operations, and corporate expensesAssist with credit card administration and related reconciliationsPartner closely with project accounting, fund accounting, asset management, and finance leadership teamsHelp establish scalable processes and reporting capabilities to support future organizational growthMaintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and proceduresParticipate in month-end close support and AP-related reporting activitiesPreferred Qualifications8–15 years of accounting or accounts payable experience with prior supervisory or management responsibilityExperience managing AP operations within a multi-entity environmentReal estate, construction, development, infrastructure, hospitality, or related industry experience preferredPrior exposure to Yardi or other large ERP systems strongly preferredExperience building or improving AP processes, workflows, and internal controlsStrong understanding of vendor management, payment processing, and AP operational best practicesExposure to construction draws and lien waiver processes is a plusStrong communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environmentHands-on leadership style with the ability to both execute and leadBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredWhy This Opportunity Stands OutOpportunity to help build and modernize a scalable AP function within a rapidly growing investment and development platformDirect exposure to executive leadership and strategic initiativesHigh-growth environment with long-term advancement potentialExposure to large-scale development and institutional real estate operationsCollaborative, entrepreneurial culture with strong visibility across the organization
