Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of precision mechanical systems for advanced aerospace applications. This role will contribute to both new product development and ongoing improvements, ensuring successful delivery of hardware from concept through integration and testing.The ideal candidate is hands-on, innovative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborating cross-functionally to bring complex mechanical systems from design to deployment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical systems and mechanisms, including performing analysis and trade studies to optimize performance, efficiency, and manufacturabilityExecute detailed engineering design work in accordance with established standards, procedures, and program requirementsCollaborate with internal teams to support system integration, assembly, and testing activitiesPartner with external vendors by defining requirements, reviewing designs, and tracking development progressDevelop and maintain mechanical documentation, including requirements, drawings, interface definitions, and test proceduresDefine and validate mechanical interfaces between subsystems and componentsSupport qualification testing (e.g., vibration, thermal, environmental) and evaluate resultsTroubleshoot hardware issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actionsPresent technical findings and design updates during reviews with cross-functional teams and stakeholdersIdentify and implement process improvements, new technologies, or innovative design approachesQualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical fieldExperience:A minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably involving complex systems or hardware developmentPreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldAdditional experience in aerospace, space systems, or other high-performance environmentsFamiliarity with multidisciplinary systems involving electrical or software componentsExperience supporting hardware through full lifecycle (design to testing and delivery)Soft SkillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teamsProven problem-solving mindset and sense of ownershipExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMeticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy of all documentation and deliverablesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentTechnology StackCAD Tools: Experience with industry-standard 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar)Analysis Tools: Familiarity with engineering analysis methods (e.g., FEA)Data/Documentation Systems: Experience with PLM/PDM systemsGeneral Tools: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)Physical RequirementsAbility to work in both office and laboratory environmentsCapable of working hands-on with hardware, test setups, and precision instrumentsAbility to lift and move up to 25 lbs as neededAbility to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or performing hands-on tasksAvailability for occasional extended hours to support critical project milestonesThis job description may not be inclusive to the duties and responsibilities listed.
