Special Education Paraprofessional – Behavior SpecialistWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional – Behavior Specialist to support students with special needs in both academic and non-academic settings. This role involves assisting classroom teachers, implementing behavior management strategies, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students.Requirements and Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma requiredAssociate or bachelor's degree preferredPrevious experience working with children with special needsValid driver's license issued in the state of residenceCurrent BLS (CPR) certification in compliance with policyCurrent First Aid trainingFor use of Meritus vehicles: Valid driver's licenseDriving record compliant with legal requirements for vehicle operationNo moving violations in the past three years preferredCertified copy of driving record required annually on date of birthSigned acknowledgment of "Attestation A" in Meritus Vehicle Management Use and Control policyEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervise and assist students during academic and non-academic periodsSupport classroom instruction under the direction of the teacherModel appropriate behavior and responsible technology useImplement behavior management systems effectivelyComplete timely and accurate data collectionInteract with students in a clinically appropriate and positive mannerApply TIP strategies correctly, including verbal de-escalation and physical management as a last resortMaintain professional boundaries with students and staffParticipate in meetings, team collaborations, and in-service trainingEnsure punctual arrival to maintain continuous student supervisionPerform other duties as assigned by supervisorPhysical RequirementsWillingness to transport students in company vehicle as neededAbility to perform CPR and TIP interventionsWillingness to engage in physical interventions when necessaryAbility to sit for 50 percent of the timeAbility to stand for 20 percent of the timeAbility to walk for 30 percent of the timeAbility to lift up to 50 poundsConsistent punctual attendance and full-time onsite presence requiredCaring for Our TeamWe offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees' well-being and professional growth.
