About the Role

The Company is in search of a VP, Deputy General Counsel to spearhead its legal strategy and provide day-to-day counsel in the areas of privacy, compliance, product legal, and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to various teams, including product, engineering, marketing, and business, and will be responsible for the company's legal approach to data protection, cybersecurity, and the ethical development and deployment of AI and data-driven products. Key responsibilities for this role include serving as the primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams, ensuring regulatory compliance in product updates and marketing campaigns, and providing guidance on a wide range of legal issues, from privacy and security to commercial transactions and technology enablement. Applicants must have a minimum of 15 years' of relevant legal experience, with a strong background in privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and technology/commercial law. In-house experience advising product and engineering teams is highly valued. The role requires a candidate with a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, an active license to practice law, and a proven track record in negotiating data protection and security terms. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of U.S. and global privacy and data protection laws, as well as experience in incident response and emerging technology issues. Excellent communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to provide clear, actionable legal guidance are essential.
