Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Directing physical therapy treatment aimed at preventing disability, relieving pain, and enhancing or restoring muscle function, in accordance with individualized care plans.
  • Supervising and guiding Physical Therapy Assistants in the implementation of prescribed therapy interventions, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of patients' functional capabilities through the application of diagnostic tests of muscles, nerves, and joints.
  • Assessing patients' home environments and providing modifications and recommendations to facilitate rehabilitation and independence.
  • Administering therapeutic exercises and providing instructions on non-manual workouts to empower patients in their recovery.
  • Implementing manual therapy techniques, including traction and massage, to improve patient outcomes.
  • Fitting, adjusting, and modifying prosthetic and orthotic devices while coordinating with physicians for optimal patient care.
  • Collaborating actively with an interdisciplinary team in case conferences to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Documenting patient progress through comprehensive clinical records, including evaluations, care plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Engaging with patients and their families in education about therapy plans and interventions to enhance understanding and compliance.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your expertise will primarily benefit patients recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions affecting their mobility and functional abilities. You will work with a diverse client population, ranging from postoperative orthopedic patients to those with disabling musculoskeletal disorders. Your efforts will be crucial in helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals and improve their quality of life.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current Physical Therapy licensure in New Jersey, in good standing.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Physical Therapist, preferably in acute care or home care settings.
  • Essential certifications including CPR and knowledge of current healthcare regulations and practices.
  • A valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
Preferred Experience
