Systems EngineerInnovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Systems Engineer to be based out of one of IDT's offices. This person will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers by working with and developing cutting edge technology to solve customer problems. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space. The selected Systems Engineer will be responsible to turn customer's goals and needs into solutions. The Systems Engineer possesses the background and skills to communicate both with customers and IDT designers, lead and collaborate with development and deployment teams, and define product features and capabilities to apply automated Testing and Analysis technologies for rapid assessment and deployment of capability.The ideal candidate will have skills applicable to instrumentation and data recording, data analysis, behavior assessment against requirements, understanding of Combat Systems, Kill Chains and/or Effects Chains, and presentation/visualization methods to help the System Analyst understand results and take corrective actions. The candidate will learn IDT's technologies and how to apply them to a Customer's Products to accelerate the pace of development, test, deployment, and in-service upgrade.Clearance & Location Requirements:All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 4 days in the office, based out of our Arlington, VA, Mount Laurel, NJ, or San Diego, CA location.Key Responsibilities What You Will Do:Develop test/data algorithms for reducing instrumentation and data streams to meaningful quantification of system actions, behaviors, and outcomesEvaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all functional and program interfacesApply advanced systems/software technologies and principles to develop innovative solutions for in-service and next generation complex software systemsApply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify life cycle balanced system of systems and system solutionsAnalyze and decompose requirements, review software designs, generate test cases, test procedures, and test plans, and troubleshoot discrepancies to fulfill customer needsPerform analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architectureDetermine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutionsDetermine SysML model implementation of Systems Engineering designsCommunicate directly with customer and users to understand need and drive cross-functional technical issues/challenges to closureSkills, Knowledge & Expertise Who You Are (Required):Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, other STEM field, or equivalent full-time professional experience3-5+ years of relevant experienceAbility and interest in the logical, systematic conversion of program requirements into viable technical solutionsMathematical and communication skills to understand what System Users and Testers need to make decisions and do assessments rapidly and accuratelyUnderstanding of System Engineering and Software Engineering best practices. Ability to communicate with customer Subject Matter Experts and understand their processes and designs.Understanding of performing test and integration, applying best engineering practices, and developing test methodologiesAbility to apply analysis to systems, data, and processes to determine if exhibited Behavior is expectedAbility to understand system behavior through reading system specifications and requirementsUnderstanding of the activities described by the Systems Engineering V-ModelAbility to work on-site with potential hybrid flexibilityAbility to travel approximately 10%What Makes You Stand Out:Knowledge of modern AESA or DBF radar designs, distributed Kill Chains and Combat System, and management of distributed data for decision makingAbility to create Agentic AI workflows to accelerate turning data into decisions, accelerate system design, and facilitate rapid trade studies and product decisionsFamiliarity with Model Based Systems Engineering/Model Based Software Development using SysML or UMLDemonstrated knowledge in related disciplines (e.g. Software Engineering)Familiarity with Agile development processesExperience developing or testing large, complex systemsExperience implementing algorithms in C++, Python, MATLAB or other languagesSystems Engineering experience with system integration, verification, and validation testingExperience designing and testing complex SW systems, especially DoD Systems or large distributed SW SolutionsExperience performing test and integration, applying best engineering practices, and developing test methodologiesExperience with data visualization and presentation. Pay Range*: $90,000 - $150,000 or $114,000 - $184,000 This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels.
