Staff AccountantRiverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems. Position Overview Riverside Research is looking for a Staff Accountant, under the direction of Senior Accounting Manager, will be a part of the accounting team and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP. This position will be supporting day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on payroll. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship.ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll on a weekly and semi-monthly basisSet-up leave accruals for new hiresAssist with payroll tax complianceProcess weekly expense report paymentsManage timesheet compliancePartner closely with HR on payroll-related activities while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity.OtherManage cash-related transactions, including daily monitoring of bank activity, cash receipt processing, etc.Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, develop action plans and lead resolutions on accountsAP processing including voucher entry, new vendor setup and weekly check runsExpense report review and approvalAssist with monthly closing activitiesAssist with auditsSupport special accounting projects and process improvements as neededProvide timely, professional support to employees and external agencies regarding payroll and AP inquiriesPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsDegree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field2-5 years' work experience in accounting with at least 1 year in processing payrollWorking knowledge of UKG payroll system or similarExperience with ERP systems (CostPoint preferred)Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially ExcelStrong attention to detailAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information professionallyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to research, analyze and resolve problemsAbility to handle multiple tasks at one time and prioritizeExcellent listening and communication skillsGlobal Comp $70,000 - $100,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.Closing Statement "Riverside Research strives to be one of America's premier providers of independent, trusted technical and scientific expertise.
