Job Description:

The Director of Operations serves as a key partner to the Leadership team, ensuring that the company has the systems, processes, people, and operational discipline needed to achieve its overall goals.
This role is responsible for translating organizational priorities into clear operational plans, strengthening organizational infrastructure, and creating the conditions for growth. The Director of Operations oversees day-to-day business operations, while continually improving the systems that support high performance and a positive employee experience.

Duties include:

1. Organizational Strategy & Operations
Outcome: The company has a clear strategic plan and aligned operating practices that are clear, understood, and support the consistent execution of company goals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and regularly update a Strategic Plan that encompasses the company’s goals and values, in collaboration with the Leadership team
• Develop and maintain organizational planning and operating rhythms that support execution and accountability
• Evaluate and improve operational systems, processes, and workflows to increase effectiveness
• Develop and maintain company policies and operating procedures that further the company’s goals and support a positive work environment and culture

2. People Operations & Organizational Development

Outcome: The company attracts, develops, and retains talented employees through clear systems, strong management practices, and a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and oversee systems for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development
• Partner with leaders to strengthen performance management, feedback, coaching, and employee growth
• Oversee HR operations, ensuring practices and policies support a healthy, high-performing culture
• Serve as the primary liaison with the company’s PEO with regard to payroll, policy management, new employee enrollment, health insurance renewals, 401(k) oversight
• Provide leadership and supervision for administrative staff, including the Administrative Assistant

3. Finance and Risk Management

Outcome: The company continues to grow and maximize profits while maintaining strong financial discipline and appropriate risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Leadership team to develop, monitor, and manage the annual operating budget
• Monitor financial performance, company revenue margins, and key business metrics, making recommendations to maximize profits
• Work with the company’s insurance agents to ensure that the company has adequate insurance coverage
• Identify operational risks and implement systems to reduce company exposure

4. Vendor Relationships

Outcome: The company maintains high-quality partnerships and operational resources that maximize value and support performance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage strategic relationships with external vendors and service providers
• Lead vendor selection, as needed, for various services such as insurance brokers, PEOs, IT providers, marketing or PR firms, or applications or other products that improve efficiencies for the company

Qualifications:

Experience
• 2-4+ years of leadership experience in operations, accounting/finance, business management, organizational development, or related field
• Experience partnering closely with executive leadership
• Demonstrated success building organizational systems and improving operational effectiveness
• Experience leading organizational change and continuous improvement

• Knowledge of performance evaluation metrics
