Pharmacy Technician Inpatient - Dayshift

The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient, Dayshift supports daily inpatient pharmacy operations as part of a collaborative team of approximately 13 pharmacy technicians and 8 pharmacists. Caregivers rotate through a variety of core pharmacy functions, including Pyxis replenishment, inventory management, virtual carousel operations, receiving medication orders, IV room support, and non-sterile compounding. This role provides broad exposure to inpatient pharmacy operations and the opportunity to work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare team members to ensure medications are prepared, managed, and delivered safely and efficiently.

A caregiver in this role will rotate through 8 hours shifts from 6:00am to 6:15pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.

• Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.

• Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.

• Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.

• Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.

• Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).

• In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee

• Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

• Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Six months of hospital experience


• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program


• Prior inpatient experience


• Prior IV experience

Physical Requirements:

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $21.50

Maximum hourly: $31.00
