Machine Shop Assembler / Core Technician

Location: Lakeland, FL
Pay: $16.00–$18.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with occasional Friday overtime

Job Overview

A growing industrial manufacturing company in Lakeland is seeking a dependable Machine Shop Assembler / Core Technician to manufacture and assemble custom metal components.

This hands-on position involves operating manual shop equipment, inspecting finished parts, and MIG welding metal assemblies. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, pays close attention to detail, and is willing to learn. On-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, and related equipment
• Perform tooling changes, machine calibration, and routine cleaning
• Adjust machine settings, including speed and feed rates
• MIG weld metal components and assemblies
• Inspect parts using tape measures, calipers, and micrometers
• Read and follow production instructions, engineering drawings, and manuals
• Monitor production quality and identify defects or mistakes
• Troubleshoot equipment or production issues during the shift
• Maintain accurate material and production records
• Follow all safety procedures and quality-control standards
• Work closely with team members to meet production goals

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Attention to detail and sound problem-solving skills
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to safely perform the physical duties of a manufacturing position
• Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required

Preferred Experience

• MIG welding
• Manual lathe or mill operation
• Reading engineering drawings
• Using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
• Working with high-speed production machinery
