Position: Mechanical Drafter – Measurement Devices

Location: Midland TX
Job Type: Full-Time


About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Drafter to support the design and fabrication of specialized measurement equipment for the oil & gas industry. This position will develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for piping assemblies, meter runs, skids, fittings, and related equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong Autodesk Inventor skills along with practical knowledge of mechanical drafting, piping, fabrication, and industrial equipment.


What You’ll Do

  • Create detailed 3D parts, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Develop drawings for piping spools, flanges, fittings, supports, enclosures, and related components.
  • Prepare accurate BOMs, assembly documentation, and fabrication packages.
  • Interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, engineering sketches, general arrangement drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Incorporate dimensions, tolerances, weld details, and fabrication requirements into drawings.
  • Manage drawing revisions and maintain organized engineering documentation.
  • Support project teams with redlines, design updates, and revised drawing packages.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, measurement teams, and fabrication personnel to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable.
  • Follow applicable industry standards and internal drafting procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of mechanical drafting experience, preferably in oil & gas, industrial equipment, or fabrication.
  • Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, including parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  • Experience working with piping, pipe, flanges, fittings, and fabricated equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with engineering and shop teams.
  • Associate degree or technical training in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
