About the Position

We are a well-established, patient-focused dental practice in Fitchburg, Massachusetts seeking an experienced, credentialed Expanded-Duty Dental Assistant to join our clinical team full-time. This is not an entry-level or on-the-job-training position: candidates must already hold the certification required under Massachusetts law to legally perform prophylaxis (cleanings) on pediatric patients, and be ready to step into that scope of duty from day one. The ideal candidate works confidently and independently within their certified scope, is comfortable in a fast-paced digital practice, and is dedicated to providing excellent, efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures
  • Independently perform prophylaxis (cleanings) on pediatric patients, within the scope authorized under Massachusetts law for certified expanded-duty dental assistants
  • Support and help drive our CEREC same-day restoration workflow - including digital scanning, restoration design, and milling/finishing - so the dentist's chair time is used efficiently and patients can receive same-day crowns and restorations
  • Prepare, disinfect, and sterilize operatories and instruments in accordance with OSHA and infection control standards
  • Seat and prepare patients, review medical histories, and provide postoperative instructions as directed
  • Take and process dental x-rays as permitted under Massachusetts dental practice regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environment
  • Monitor and help manage clinical supply inventory
  • Support front-desk and administrative tasks as needed, such as patient check-in/check-out and scheduling
  • Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA
  • Perform additional clinical or administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Required: current Massachusetts certification/registration as an Expanded-Duty Dental Assistant, specifically including authorization to perform prophylaxis (cleanings) on pediatric patients - candidates must hold this certification at the time of hire; we are not able to accommodate on-the-job training toward this credential for this role
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Prior dental assisting experience required; hands-on CEREC scanning and/or design experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to physically work and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
