Job Description

Summary:
The Patient Safety Companion / Direct Care Sitter functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide continuous patient observation, direct patient support, and safety monitoring for patients identified as high risk for falls, elopement, behavioral escalation, suicide precautions, cognitive impairment, or interference with medical treatment. This role supports Northwest Hospital's patient monitoring strategy through continuous observation, patient engagement, escalation recognition, and direct care support appropriate to CNA/GNA certification and competency. The Patient Safety Companion provides hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility support, patient redirection, and observation duties while maintaining a safe patient environment and promptly communicating concerns to nursing staff.

Basic Life Support
Current Maryland CNA certification (CNA-I or CNA-II)

Pay Range: $17.00 to $22.59 Based On Experience
