Job Summary As a Corporate Accounting Specialist - Accounting - Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting core general ledger functions in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Farm Credit Administration (FCA) regulations, and IRS requirements. You'll contribute to maintaining accurate financial records for the Associations and AgDirect, helping ensure their financial position and fiduciary responsibilities are clearly and reliably represented.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entry processing, completion of key validations, and analytical reviews.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing, accurate account classifications, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Support the work of Accounting teammates to ensure various subledgers are maintained and amortization schedules are accurate, including fixed assets, leases, and prepaid accounts.
  • Perform payroll and benefits accounting process for the Associations through analyzing data files generated by Farm Credit Foundations to provide reasonable assurance that entries are accurate.
  • Support the Financial Reporting team by assisting with documentation of the monthly reconciliation processes, participating in the monthly financial reporting process, and analysis of Call Report information.
  • Gain knowledge of Farm Credit Administration (FCA) and Farm Credit System (FCS) accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Support the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) team by assisting with control inquiries, participating in process walkthroughs, and documenting key financial controls and processes
  • Collaborate with Leadership in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, Banking, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Available for a 12-week internship during summer of 2027.
