Senior Telecom Engineer (E3)

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Position Summary

The Senior Telecom Engineer is an advanced engineering role responsible for leading the technical execution of communications infrastructure projects. The role performs complex engineering work, maintains the quality and constructability of deliverables, and guides engineers, designers, project managers, and field teams through design development, project execution, and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Technical Leadership

• Lead telecommunications system design and integration for RF, LMR, microwave, wireless, fiber, copper, network, equipment-layout, and related power or control interfaces.
• Lead engineering analyses, technical evaluations, design decisions, and resolution of complex technical or constructability issues.

Documentation & Deliverables

• Develop and review drawings, system diagrams, bills of material, scopes of work, installation packages, redlines, and as-built documentation.
• Ensure engineering packages are accurate, complete, clear, constructible, technically sound, and aligned with project requirements and standards.

Project & Field Support

• Lead or support site surveys, field data collection, installation verification, construction support, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Identify technical risks and design issues early and communicate recommended resolutions to project and field stakeholders.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

• Support applicable FCC, FAA, code, standard, and regulatory requirements; coordinate licensed Professional Engineer review when required.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, review their work when assigned, and support engineering standards and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate across engineering, design, project management, field services, procurement, Quality, and clients; communicate decisions, status, risks, and project needs clearly.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Five or more years of engineering experience in telecommunications, RF systems, communications infrastructure, DC power systems, or related project-based engineering work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license or progress toward licensure, Engineer-in-Training certification, or Electrical Administrator License for Inside/Outside Communications.
• BICSI/RCDD experience; experience with RF, microwave, LMR, industrial communications, FCC/FAA processes, or remote construction projects.
• Experience reviewing work produced by junior engineers or designers.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of one or more of the following:
• • Telecommunications systems or RF fundamentals.
  • Fiber optic and copper infrastructure systems.
  • Electrical or network infrastructure systems.
  • Communications equipment integration and system architecture.
• Practical understanding of constructability, maintainability, and field installation considerations.
• Ability to lead design development and technical evaluations.
• Ability to produce and review clear, accurate, and complete engineering documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
• Ability to interpret requirements, specifications, field data, and engineering standards.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based; hybrid work may be permitted based on project needs. Field work is required as projects dictate, including site visits and installation, commissioning, or troubleshooting support. The role models integrity, engineering quality, responsiveness, accountability, and collaboration.
• This role is primarily based in Anchorage, Alaska, with regular collaboration across office and project teams.
