Accounting Technician
The mission of the Department of Insurance is to enforce the insurance laws and regulations of the state impartially, honestly and expeditiously. The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Office of Management & Finance/Fiscal Division. This division is responsible for supporting the agency's financial operations through the processing and management of accounts payable, financial reporting, and fiscal compliance activities. In this role, you will assist with invoice processing, payment reconciliations, financial recordkeeping, and other accounting functions that help ensure the efficient and accurate administration of agency funds. Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Job Duties: As an Accounting Technician in the Office of Management & Finance/Fiscal Division, you will/may:
- Process vendor invoices and enter payment information into the agency's financial system to support timely and accurate payments.
- Review invoices and supporting documentation to ensure expenditures comply with agency policies, state regulations, and accounting requirements.
- Reconcile payments and financial records, researching and resolving discrepancies when necessary.
- Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and supporting schedules used by agency management and accounting staff.
- Assist with maintaining accurate accounting records, including posting and journalizing financial transactions.
- Communicate with vendors and agency staff regarding invoice status, payment processing, and other fiscal matters.
- Support the agency's accounts payable operations by ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Apply accounting principles, procurement requirements, and fiscal policies in the performance of daily duties.
- Assist with special projects, audits, and other fiscal activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties in support of the Office of Management & Finance/Fiscal Division and the Louisiana Department of Insurance.

Career Progression: This position will be filled as an Accounting Technician and will be filled as a four-year job appointment. Compensation: The salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience within the established pay range.
