A respected acute care hospital in Vermont is seeking an experienced Blood Bank Technologist II / Blood Bank Specialist to join its laboratory team. The MLS II/Blood Bank Technologist II functions as a generalist across all laboratory sections while providing advanced technical and administrative oversight of the Blood Bank. The specialist will perform diagnostic testing, support quality and regulatory compliance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, assist with staff training, and help maintain efficient daily laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
Perform testing across all laboratory sections, including specialized and advanced procedures
Provide technical oversight and daily support within the Blood Bank
Process specimens and monitor pending tests to ensure timely, accurate results
Evaluate quality control, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance data
Troubleshoot complex instrument and assay issues
Assist with method validation, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance
Maintain Blood Bank procedures, training materials, and competency assessments
Manage inventory and support equipment planning
Provide technical guidance and training to laboratory staff
Assist other laboratory sections during workload fluctuations
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related biological or chemical science
Nationally recognized MLS, MT, MLT SBB or BB ASCP Certification Required
At least two years of clinical laboratory experience as an MLS, or four years as an MLT
At least two years of high-complexity testing experience, including Blood Bank experience
Strong technical, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented laboratory
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position
80 hours bi-weekly
Primarily day shift
Up to two weekends per month
Flexibility for occasional varied shifts, holidays, and on-call coverage may be required
