JOB CLASSIFICATION: Clerical Services

SKILL CLASSIFICATION: Grade I

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: Compute, classify, record, and verify numerical and financial data to maintain complete and accurate accounting records. Perform routine calculating, posting, reconciling, and verifying duties to support the District's financial operations. Review figures, calculations, documentation, and postings for accuracy and assist with correcting routine financial transactions as needed.

Work closely with Accounts Payable and other Business Office employees to provide responsive and accurate service to the various departments, programs, and operating units of the Nenana City School District within available resources. This position will provide significant support to the District's CyberLynx program, including the processing of student allotment payment requests for eligible activities, supplies, materials, and other approved educational expenses.

The overarching principle of the Business Office is service. While compliance with prescribed procedures, policies, rules, laws, and other requirements is essential, our daily work is focused on providing accurate and timely financial services to students, parents, employees, and programs as directed by the Board and District administration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Demonstrate consistent punctuality and regular attendance.

• Adhere to established district policies and procedures.
• Attend department staff meetings as required.
• Work cooperatively with District employees, students, parents, vendors, and the general public.
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and review own work to ensure quality.
• Perform routine work related to revenue, accounts payable, and payroll processing assistance.
• Process online-school student allotment payment requests for eligible activities, supplies, materials, and other approved educational expenses; verify required documentation and coding, enter or route transactions for payment, maintain supporting records, and follow up with school staff, families, or vendors when additional information is needed.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of spreadsheets, including Microsoft Excel.
• Prepare routine correspondence and communications related to financial transactions and payment requests.
• Identify routine transaction errors and propose correcting entries as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Business Manager.

• Auditory discrimination sufficient to receive detailed information through normal speech at 5 feet and warning cries or alarms normal speech levels.
• ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to work in an office environment that may be dynamic and noisy from time to time.

• EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
• High School Diploma or equivalent; AA degree or similar certification with an emphasis in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred; or comparable demonstrated experience or knowledge.
• Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
• Valid First Aid card preferred.

The Nenana City School District is located in Nenana, Alaska. We are 55 miles south of Fairbanks and 300 miles north of Anchorage on the Parks Highway. The City of Nenana is positioned at the confluence where the Nenana River enters the Tanana River.

On average, our district serves 200 K-12 students at the Nenana City School and 2000 correspondence students through the CyberLynx K-12 program, with satellite offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla.
