About the PositionPrimeCARE Medical Technicians are an integral part of our clinical team, working alongside providers and other healthcare professionals to deliver quality, efficient, and compassionate care to our patients.
Medical Technicians are responsible for obtaining and documenting patient information, performing clinical testing and procedures, preparing patient rooms, assisting providers, and helping ensure the clinic operates efficiently. Successful candidates will be dependable, organized, team-oriented, and able to provide excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Clinical DutiesObtain and document thorough patient information, including constitutional symptoms, HPI, medical history, and social history, while using critical-thinking skills to ask appropriate questions.
Perform rapid diagnostic testing accurately and efficiently, including pregnancy, strep, flu, H. pylori, HbA1c, urinalysis, rapid drug screens, and other testing as required.
Assist with blood draws and other clinical procedures as directed by the provider, including safely assisting with patient positioning and support during procedures.
Perform additional patient-care activities as requested by the provider.
Ensure appropriate forms, documentation, and reporting procedures are completed for all clinical services and procedures.
Accurately and efficiently document patient information in the electronic medical record (EHR), including progress notes, using appropriate grammar and medical terminology.
Utilize eCW templates appropriately to support accurate documentation and billing.
Maintain patient rooms by completing required cleaning, stocking, and preparation duties.
Complete opening and closing duties and ensure the work area and equipment are prepared for each shift.
Help keep providers organized and prepared to see patients in each room.
Manage time effectively and take initiative to complete necessary tasks throughout the day.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable PrimeCARE policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively as part of the clinic's POD team to provide efficient and coordinated patient care.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, providers, coworkers, vendors, and other members of the healthcare team.
Anticipate, listen to, and respond to patient and customer needs in a courteous and professional manner.
Follow up on questions, concerns, and assigned tasks in a timely and respectful manner.
Maintain composure, professionalism, sound judgment, and integrity in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate responsible use of clinic resources and equipment and treat company property with care.
Represent PrimeCARE positively through professional appearance, behavior, and interactions with patients and team members.
Support coworkers and contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
Take initiative to identify and address problems and assist with solutions when appropriate.
Adapt to changes in processes, procedures, technology, and clinical protocols.
Offer constructive ideas and feedback that may improve patient care, efficiency, or the overall patient experience.
Complete required annual HIPAA, OSHA, and other training within established deadlines.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required to support clinic operations.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to exercise patience, sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when working with patients and protected health information.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Basic computer skills and experience with data entry.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience working in a medical clinic, hospital, urgent care, or similar healthcare setting.
Experience using an electronic health record (EHR) system.
Experience obtaining manual blood pressure and other manual vital signs.
Previous experience performing clinical testing or assisting with medical procedures.
Clinic Hours:
Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
Sunday: 1:00 PM–5:00 PM
Full-Time:
Minimum of 30 hours per week, with the potential to work up to 40+ hours based on clinic needs.
Part-Time:
Up to 30 hours per week.
Schedule Expectations:
Availability for evening shifts is required.
Employees may be scheduled for up to three 12-hour shifts per week.
Weekend availability is required, with employees generally scheduled for approximately two weekends per month.
Monthly staff meetings may be held outside of regular scheduled hours, generally in the early morning.
Schedules are based on clinic needs and may vary.
Working Conditions & Physical RequirementsThis position is performed in a busy clinical environment with frequent interaction with patients, providers, and coworkers.
The employee may be required to:
Spend a significant portion of the workday standing and walking.
Frequently use hands and fingers to perform clinical and administrative tasks, including repetitive motions.
Reach, bend, and move throughout the clinic and patient-care areas.
Speak and listen effectively in person and by telephone.
Work in an environment with moderate levels of noise from telephones, equipment, and conversations.
Work in an environment with potential occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious materials while following all required safety precautions.
Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally assist with team-lifting or safely supporting a patient during care, when necessary.
Process, understand, and comply with changes to procedures, protocols, and processes, including changes implemented with limited advance notice.
Maintain close and peripheral vision necessary to perform essential job duties.
Occasionally travel to other PrimeCARE locations for meetings, training, or staffing coverage.

Reporting StructureThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities. The Medical Technician reports to the department Manager and works with a moderate level of supervision. Employees are expected to work collaboratively and assist one another in following PrimeCARE policies, procedures, and standards.
