FINANCE MANAGER

About the Opportunity

A growing Scottsdale-based organization is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager who can move comfortably between FP&A, accounting, controllership, and business partnering.

This role will own core close and control responsibilities while also building budgets and forecasts, developing financial models and KPIs, analyzing business performance, and turning financial data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.

The ideal candidate is analytical, curious, and comfortable working directly in the details. You should be equally comfortable completing a close, building a forecast, developing a financial model, analyzing business drivers, and partnering with leaders to improve decision-making.

This is not a traditional Controller or CFO-track role. We are looking for someone who enjoys doing the work directly, wants broader ownership, and is ready to grow beyond a traditional analyst position.

What You’ll Do

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Build and maintain annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support business decisions
• Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, profitability, and other key business drivers
• Perform budget-to-actual and variance analysis
• Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through financial analysis
• Translate data into actionable recommendations for leadership
• Support long-range planning and growth initiatives

Accounting & Controllership

• Own and participate directly in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and financial reporting
• Support accurate general ledger activity and financial statement preparation
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash-management activities
• Maintain effective internal controls and financial documentation
• Support audit, tax, and compliance activities as needed
• Help ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and consistent with applicable accounting principles

Business Partnership

• Partner with operational and functional leaders to understand business performance
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify key business drivers
• Help leaders understand the financial impact of business decisions
• Identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, efficiency, and cost management
• Prepare financial reporting and presentations for senior leadership
• Provide recommendations and insights — not simply historical reporting

Reporting & Process Improvement

• Develop and improve dashboards, KPI reporting, and management reporting
• Improve finance processes, controls, and reporting workflows
• Identify opportunities to streamline or automate recurring finance activities
• Help build scalable financial processes that support organizational growth
• Maintain strong data quality and reporting standards

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
• Approximately 3–5 years of progressive finance and/or accounting experience preferred
• Experience across both FP&A and accounting responsibilities
• Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis
• Experience participating in or owning month-end close
• Working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial controls
• Experience developing or monitoring financial and operational KPIs
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to understand business drivers and translate financial analysis into actionable recommendations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Comfortable working independently and personally executing the work
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hands-on, growing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a growth-stage, entrepreneurial, healthcare, life sciences, or similarly dynamic organization
• Experience blending FP&A, accounting, and operational finance
• Experience with inventory, cost analysis, revenue analysis, or operational metrics
• Experience creating financial dashboards and management reporting
• Experience improving or automating finance processes
• Familiarity with ERP, financial reporting, or business-intelligence systems
• CPA, CMA, MBA, or similar credential is a plus, but not required
