Overview

In this role you will lead HDR's Integrated Watershed Management practice, guiding technical capabilities and project quality across markets. You'll build cross-functional relationships, drive risk management, and shape strategic plans to meet client needs. You'll mentor technical leaders, support proposals, and elevate HDR's presence in industry forums. This is a chance to influence large, multi-disciplinary water projects and advance sustainable outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class
  • Build close working relationships with related business classes, market sectors, business groups and operations
  • Lead and participate in technical risk management through process and resource reviews, providing technical advisory services on projects
  • Drive quality assurance and control processes and coordinate with the WBG Quality Manager
  • Oversee development and application of technical tools, standards, and techniques to enhance service quality and efficiency
  • Ensure staff are aware of emerging technologies and monitor their adoption
  • Develop strategic plans for the business class in collaboration with market sector directors
  • Facilitate teamwork and information sharing across offices, management, marketing and staff
  • Monitor direction, policies, quality assurance, tool usage and resource/workload allocation
  • Recruit and train staff to build technical expertise and production capacity; coordinate strategic hires
  • Support client development and project pursuits through technical experts and industry involvement
  • Represent HDR in industry organizations, presentations, and publications
  • Oversee Technical Networking Groups sponsored by the business class
  • Facilitate lessons learned for project delivery and process improvement
  • Monitor performance and implement corrective actions across the business class
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the related field
  • For leadership roles overseeing technical design, must maintain professional or Architecture/Engineering registration and have related technical experience
  • Experience in developing and managing diverse teams
  • Collaborates effectively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers
