In this role, you lead growth initiatives for Golden State Water Company, shaping opportunities in water and wastewater sectors. You'll analyze potential acquisitions, green field developments, and regulatory considerations to support the company's expansion in California. You will collaborate with executives and regulators to drive strategic deals and ensure smooth integration of new entities. - Identify and develop new business opportunities and partnerships in the water/wastewater sector
- Analyze financial, operational, and regulatory impacts of potential opportunities; present recommendations to executives
- Oversee proposal preparation for acquisitions and new developments; coordinate with internal stakeholders
- Coordinate due diligence with legal and internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist Regulatory Affairs in securing approvals for acquisitions; testify as expert witness with CPUC
- Manage due diligence, contract drafting, and negotiation to close deals and integrate acquired entities
- Prepare monthly status and opportunity reports for the executive team; create and manage annual BD plan
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop long-term strategic plans and relationships
- Close deals by negotiation, integration, and alignment with existing operations
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus ten years of experience in business development, accounting/finance, or utility regulatory analysis
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred; utility regulatory environment experience highly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications; advanced Excel preferred
- Willingness to travel domestically; option for remote work with proximity to a major airport
