Overview

As Director of Financial Operations, you will lead and integrate financial operations across functions to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing. You'll manage people, processes, and systems, building trusted relationships with finance staff, department administrators, and leadership to simplify workflows and strengthen controls. You'll guide the adoption of AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and capacity. This role combines hands-on execution with strategic oversight, acting as a trusted advisor to the CFO and shaping operating practices across the College.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day financial operations across supported areas with accuracy and timeliness
• Oversee complex financial transactions, reconciliations, and issue resolution at senior levels
• Establish clear operating procedures and service expectations for transactional work
• Maintain Workday Finance and related systems knowledge to improve execution and problem-solving
• Evaluate workflows to remove complexity and bottlenecks; develop practical procedures and guidance
• Collaborate with College and University stakeholders to adapt operations to evolving policies and technologies
• Maintain strong financial controls and audit readiness; ensure proper documentation
• Provide guidance to departmental administrators and leaders on financial management practices
• Develop and coach financial operations staff; foster a culture of service and continuous improvement
• Remain engaged in day-to-day work to remove barriers and address complex issues

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Accounting
• 7+ years of relevant experience
• 4+ years of managerial experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls
• Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis
• Experience with Workday Finance
• Familiarity with university financial policy, compliance, and audit processes
• Experience partnering with departmental administrators or non-finance stakeholders
