Overview

In this role you will lead the financial management for a large division, delivering strategic plans and oversight to ensure budgeted performance. You will partner with divisional leaders to shape financial strategy, reports, and controls, while building a strong finance team through mentoring. The position emphasizes long-range planning, financial stewardship, and cross-functional collaboration to drive division-wide impact. This is a hands-on, strategic role with a clear focus on governance, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with divisional and department leaders to align goals with divisional objectives
  • Develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with the division's vision
  • Lead long-term financial planning (5-10 years) and capital budgeting
  • Oversee financial analysis of actual vs budget, addressing variances and issues
  • Identify opportunities for financial innovation and continuous improvement
  • Develop and monitor financial policies and internal controls
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and leadership reports
  • Oversee accounting for income and expense projections and changes
  • Evaluate departmental financial performance and provide improvement recommendations
  • Directly supervise finance staff and support professional development
  • Implement and monitor KPIs, policies, and standards
  • Participate in governance council meetings to uphold service levels
  • Perform other related duties as requested
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ten years progressively responsible financial management experience
  • Master's Degree in related field and/or CPA license preferred
  • Experience in higher education or academic medical center preferred
  • Knowledge of Excel, Access and Word
  • Knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
