Overview

In this role you partner with FAO leadership to deliver outsourced accounting and financial reporting for not-for-profit clients. You will guide clients on accounting operations, reporting needs, and process improvements, while leading and developing accounting professionals, including offshore staff. You oversee onboarding, system transitions, and client deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The position combines client service, project oversight, and opportunities to enhance efficiency through technology, within a mission-driven nonprofit focus.

Responsibilities
  • Manage outsourced accounting and financial reporting for not-for-profit clients
  • Serve as trusted advisor on accounting operations and reporting requirements
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals (including offshore team)
  • Oversee client onboarding, transitions, system implementations, and integrations
  • Review financial statements, reporting packages, reconciliations, and client deliverables
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, grant reporting, and board reporting requirements
  • Monitor engagement performance, resource utilization, and client satisfaction
  • Identify process and technology-driven efficiency opportunities
  • Manage multiple client priorities with focus on service quality
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience in public accounting
  • Experience providing outsourced accounting, client accounting advisory, or controllership services to multiple clients
  • Not-for-profit accounting experience including supporting charitable organizations, foundations, associations, educational institutions, or other tax-exempt entities
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, grant accounting, and fund accounting
  • Experience leading and developing accounting professionals, including remote and offshore teams
  • Strong project management, organizational, and client relationship management skills
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver exceptional client service in a fast-paced environment
