Finance Lead
Treehub is an early-stage investment and company-building platform for scientist-founders in health and AI. We back founders coming out of universities and research institutions with capital, a 24-week residency in Los Altos, and hands‑on support from our partners, advisors and community. We run the residency, a first fund administered on AngelList, and Treehub Alto, a new fund closing in December 2026.
We are hiring a Finance Lead to own the numbers.
The roleYou own the numbers for a small firm with several entities and two funds. On the management‑company side you run the monthly close, payroll, receivables, spend controls, the budget and the cash forecast. On the fund side you are the day‑to‑day counterpart to our fund administrator: investment closings, capital calls, quarterly statements, K-1s and the audit. You keep the filing behind all of it in order.
You report to the CFO and work with the Head of Operations, our fund administrator and outside tax and legal advisers.
What you will own- The month-end close in QuickBooks Online, and a fixed monthly package to the partners by the 10th
- Program fees, management fees and other receivables, invoiced and followed up
- Payroll in Gusto, contractor payments and 1099s
- Company cards, the vendor and subscription register, insurance renewals
- The annual budget, the rolling cash forecast and cohort economics
- Fund operations with the administrator: closings, capital calls, LP statements, K-1s and the audit
- Tax filings and entity compliance for the operating company, the management company and the GP entities, with outside advisers
- One register of signed agreements, with terms and renewal dates
- One to three years in accounting or finance: a Big Four or regional firm, a fund administrator, or the finance team of a startup or investment firm
- A degree in accounting or finance. CPA track is a plus
- You can run a close in QuickBooks, reconcile a bank account and explain a variance
- Precision with names, dates and amounts, because wires and K-1s depend on it
- Discretion. Partner compensation, investor records and portfolio terms pass through this seat
- Comfort with spreadsheets, a payroll system, shared drives and AI tools, and the habit of checking their output
Helpful, not required: fund accounting, capital calls or LP reporting, and time in a venture, accelerator or multi-entity setting. We weight accuracy, ownership and judgment over years or titles.
The first 90 daysBy day 30 you have run one close and taken over payroll and contractor payments. By day 60 the monthly package and cash forecast come from you. By day 90 Treehub Alto's first capital call and first quarterly LP statements have gone out on time, and the CFO reviews your work rather than doing it.
