Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring that instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are organized, available, and functioning correctly.
  • Provide skilled scrub support to surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical team members during various procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to maintain a smooth, safe, and effective operating environment.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to infection control, aseptic practices, and organizational policies throughout all procedures.
  • Handle, organize, and pass surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment with precision and attention to detail.
  • Assist with direct patient care activities before, during, and after surgery, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
  • Support the cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of surgical instruments and operating room equipment between procedures.
  • Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other perioperative team members to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development to promote clinical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Operate within the legal and professional scope of the Operating Room Technician role while adhering to regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
