Position Overview
The MRI Technologist is responsible for conducting routine MRI procedures, both on a scheduled and emergency basis, while ensuring a safe environment for patients and adhering to departmental quality control and exam data integrity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine MRI procedures as needed, including emergency situations.
- Evaluate requisitions for MR imaging, extracting data from patient records to assess the appropriateness of prescribed procedures based on diagnoses and clinical indicators.
- Identify patients in accordance with hospital policy using two identifiers.
- Select suitable equipment and technical settings to visualize both pathological and normal anatomy.
- Assess the physical and emotional condition of patients and their guardians, tailoring care plans to meet individual needs.
- Clearly explain the examination process and address any questions from patients and their families regarding the procedure and magnetic field environment.
- Adhere to MR quality control and data integrity workflow expectations.
- Create a supportive atmosphere that acknowledges the unique needs of each patient and their family.
- Report any equipment issues using the INeedit application.
- Assist in the organization and maintenance of daily operational tasks.
Qualifications for MRI Senior Technologist
- Associate's degree in Allied Health is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Must be MRI registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience as an MRI Technologist.
Salary Range
The annual salary for this position ranges from $99,153 to $178,464.
Additional Responsibilities for MRI Senior Technologist
- Perform more complex MRI procedures as required.
- Review and assess requisitions for MRI imaging, ensuring appropriateness based on clinical signs and diagnoses.
- Maintain patient identification protocols as per hospital policy.
- Choose the correct equipment and technical parameters for imaging.
- Evaluate the physical and emotional readiness of patients and their families, developing tailored care plans.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures and respond to inquiries from patients and families.
- Follow MR quality control and data integrity protocols.
- Utilize High Reliability Communication techniques to enhance patient care.
- Deliver exceptional service and care consistently.
- Recognize and report equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
- Support daily operations and assist with various tasks as assigned by management, including inventory management, quality assurance projects, and equipment repairs.
- Step in for management as needed to oversee daily clinical operations.
- Act as a Board Runner Technologist.
- Champion new equipment and processes.
- Participate in training and mentoring new staff, fellows, residents, and students in imaging techniques.
