Industrial Driver / Shop Technician





At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, labor, or delivery/transportation environment is preferred for this role. Southlake Machine Corporation is looking for a dependable Driver/Laborer to join their team in a hands-on position that combines local driving with shop work. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their workday, wants to develop mechanical skills, and is interested in building a long-term career in a manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule.





Job Summary


The Driver/Laborer will split their time between driving an F550 flatbed truck to steel mills, vendors, and customer locations throughout Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area, as well as performing hands-on mechanical and general labor duties in the shop.





Job Duties




  • Drive an F550 flatbed truck to steel mills, vendors, and customer locations throughout Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area.



  • Properly load, secure, transport, and unload various steel products.



  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and clients.



  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble steel process rolls.



  • Perform general shop cleaning, mechanical assistance, and other assigned duties.



Pay




  • $22.00 per hour



Schedule




  • Monday-Friday



  • 6:30 AM-3:00 PM



  • 40 hours per week



Experience or Skill Requirements




  • Previous experience in manufacturing, mechanical work, labor, delivery, or a related field is preferred.



  • Ability to obtain a "for hire" endorsement on a valid driver's license.



  • Ability to pass a DOT physical; both the endorsement and physical are paid for by Southlake Machine Corporation.



  • Basic mechanical and mathematical skills.



  • Ability to use or learn to use tools such as a micrometer and tape measure.
