Work EnvironmentThis position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to connect with clients while managing your own schedule. Interactions will primarily take place through virtual platforms, ensuring you can provide support from anywhere. You will collaborate with our hospice center team to deliver seamless care and maintain an environment conducive to healing, all while minimizing administrative burdens.
Key Responsibilities- Establish a therapeutic alliance with clients and their families, creating a safe and trusting space for emotional exploration.
- Employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies to assist clients in processing their emotions and experiences related to terminal illness.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor client progress and adjust care plans as necessary, ensuring individualized attention.
- Facilitate grief counseling sessions to support clients coping with loss, helping them navigate their feelings and find acceptance.
- Maintain clear and compassionate communication with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, social workers, and spiritual counselors, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Engage in continuous professional development to refine counseling skills and stay updated on best practices.
Your primary focus will involve supporting terminally ill clients and their families during an incredibly sensitive time. Each individual presents with unique circumstances and challenges, which will require you to adapt your approach to cater to varying emotional and psychological needs. You will be instrumental in helping clients find peace, understanding, and resolution while guiding families through grief and loss.
Qualifications- A Master's Degree in Social Work or a closely related field is required to provide the essential foundation for this role.
- Licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) is mandatory.
- Strong foundational skills in therapeutic techniques, with a minimum of two years of professional experience as a licensed counselor; five years is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical for effective client interactions and collaboration with team members.
- Proficient in using technology for telehealth services and basic Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in hospice or palliative care settings will be advantageous, providing insight into specific client needs.
- Demonstrated ability to handle high-stress situations with empathy and professionalism.
