We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our dedicated Special Education Program’s Mental Health Team. This full-time position offers the unique opportunity to work remotely while providing essential mental health services to students in a supportive school environment. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of children with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and ADHD.

Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, allowing flexibility while maintaining active engagement with the school community. Collaborating with educators and support staff is pivotal, ensuring that mental health services are seamlessly integrated into the educational framework. You will be expected to communicate regularly with team members and families to discuss progress and coordinate care effectively. The work schedule typically runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts and rotating weekend availability for urgent matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for students, utilizing standardized evaluation tools and observational techniques to inform treatment planning.
- Develop and implement tailored treatment plans that address the unique mental health needs of each student, ensuring a focus on emotional well-being and successful school integration.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and trauma-informed care, to students facing various challenges.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, promoting personal growth, emotional regulation, and the development of effective coping mechanisms.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, speech and occupational therapists, and other professionals to create a comprehensive support network for students and their families.
- Offer crisis intervention strategies and immediate support during mental health emergencies, utilizing strong assessment skills to manage and de-escalate high-stress situations.
- Educate students and their families on mental health conditions, available resources, and coping strategies to foster empowerment and understanding.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in line with ethical and legal standards, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of client information.
- Engage in ongoing professional development by participating in team meetings, training sessions, and case conferences.
- Stay up-to-date with current mental health laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and high standards of care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The ideal candidate will work closely with a diverse group of students who have special educational needs, including a wide range of mental health disorders. This role requires sensitivity and understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with ASD, learning disabilities, ADHD, and other emotional and behavioral challenges. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing their educational experiences and overall well-being.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Active and valid LCSW licensure in the state of Kansas.
- Two years of post-licensure experience, particularly in a clinical or educational setting.
- A solid understanding of mental health disorders, including evidence-based treatment modalities and trauma-informed care practices.
- Proficiency in conducting mental health assessments and formulating comprehensive treatment plans.
- Experience delivering both individual and group therapy interventions tailored to diverse populations.
- Strong crisis intervention skills and the capacity to remain composed during challenging situations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, essential for collaborating with families and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems and maintain documentation accuracy.
Preferred Experience
Preferred candidates will have direct experience working within school settings or with children and adolescents in therapeutic contexts. Familiarity with special education regulations and an understanding of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process will be considered assets.
Compensation and Benefits
