Director of Ceded Ops | Reinsurance

We are seeking a Director of Ceded Reinsurance to lead and scale reinsurance operations within a high-growth, specialty insurance platform. This role sits within the broader Operations organization and reports directly to the Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance.

This leader will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of ceded reinsurance operations, with a strong emphasis on quota share treaty structures, execution, and ongoing administration. The role is highly cross-functional, partnering with underwriting, finance, actuarial, and external reinsurance partners to ensure seamless execution and optimization of reinsurance strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end ceded reinsurance operations function, including onboarding, execution, and administration of treaties


• Own and manage quota share treaty processes, ensuring accurate implementation, reporting, and compliance


• Partner closely with underwriting and actuarial teams to operationalize reinsurance program structures


• Oversee bordereaux production, reporting, and data integrity across ceded programs


• Manage relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and third-party administrators


• Ensure accurate and timely premium, loss, and commission settlements


• Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability across reinsurance operations


• Collaborate with finance on reconciliations, reporting, and audit support


• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards


• Build and lead a high-performing team as the platform grows

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of experience in reinsurance operations, ceded reinsurance, or related insurance operations roles


• Deep expertise in quota share treaties (required)


• Strong understanding of ceded reinsurance structures, including facultative and treaty placements


• Experience working within a specialty insurance, MGA, or carrier environment


• Proven ability to build and optimize operational processes in a scaling organization


• Strong knowledge of bordereaux, settlements, and reinsurance accounting workflows


• Experience partnering cross-functionally with underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams


• Leadership experience with the ability to build and mentor teams


• Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
