Job Description
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is actively searching for an Operations Manager for an established small to mid-sized manufacturing company. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing and operational performance of the facility, overseeing a total operations team of approximately 12-15 employees.

The Operations Manager will have broad responsibility across production, assembly, logistics, purchasing, planning, shipping and receiving, quality, safety, and continuous improvement. This individual will oversee the production supervisor and operations team while working directly with senior management and the company's UK-based ownership and board members.
This is not a primarily administrative or office-based management position. The company is looking for someone who will be highly visible on the manufacturing floor, actively engaged with employees, and directly involved in improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and overall operational performance.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing operations of the facility.
• Manage daily production activities and ensure production requirements and schedules are achieved.
• Oversee the Production Supervisor and assembly/production team.
• Lead an overall operations team of approximately 12-15 employees.
• Drive improvements across safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
• Manage the production schedule and coordinate priorities based on customer and business requirements.
• Oversee logistics functions including purchasing, planning, shipping, and receiving.
• Address manufacturing and quality issues and work with the team to identify and implement corrective actions.
• Develop, coach, and strengthen the Operations team while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
• Establish and manage operational KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Lead lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives throughout the operation.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, workflow, efficiency, and overall plant performance.
• Work closely with senior management on operational priorities, challenges, and business objectives.
• Communicate and collaborate directly with UK-based ownership and board members.
• Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and remain actively involved in daily operations and problem-solving.
Qualifications:
• 5-10 years of manufacturing operations experience.
• Previous experience managing production and manufacturing employees in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability and willingness to spend significant time on the plant floor.
• Experience managing day-to-day production, scheduling, quality, safety, delivery, and cost.
• Experience overseeing or working closely with logistics functions including purchasing, planning, shipping, and receiving.
• Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing teams and holding employees accountable to performance expectations.
• Experience establishing, tracking, and improving operational KPIs.
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify operational issues and implement practical solutions.
• Ability to balance day-to-day production demands with longer-term operational improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, senior management, and company ownership.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience leading operations for a small to mid-sized manufacturing company.
• Experience overseeing multiple operational functions beyond production, including planning, purchasing, logistics, shipping/receiving, and quality.
• Demonstrated success improving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, or manufacturing costs.
• Experience implementing lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Experience building accountability and KPI-driven performance within a manufacturing operation.
Compensation:
$125,000-$140,000 base salary
