POSITION OVERVIEW
Impello Biosciences is seeking an experienced and highly networked Sales Agronomist to lead commercial expansion along the California coast. This is a remote, field-based role responsible for introducing Impello’s biological and biostimulant products to new grower and distributor accounts, establishing and building key distributor relationships, and driving adoption of Impello’s product portfolio across the region’s major specialty crops. This position reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.
Additional responsibilities may include: building & managing an agronomy team in CA, traveling nationally/internationally to support Impello initiatives, frequent visits to Impello’s HQ in Loveland, CO, and more.

• Base salary of $120,000 – $160,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Introduce Impello Biosciences and the full Impello product portfolio to new grower and distributor accounts throughout the California coast
• Establish, build, and maintain relationships with major and minor agricultural distributors in the region
• Drive adoption of Impello’s biostimulant and biological products across specialty crop markets
• Conduct technical sales presentations, on-farm product demonstrations, and grower education programs
• Collaborate closely with Impello’s R&D, marketing, and sales teams to align field strategy with company objectives
• Provide regular market intelligence on competitive products, grower needs, and regional trends
• Maintain CRM platform with current contact information, meeting notes, sales opportunities, and account activity
• Summarize weekly territory developments and report progress against sales and adoption targets
• Represent Impello at regional trade shows, grower association meetings, and industry events
• Travel extensively throughout the assigned region, with occasional travel to Impello headquarters and national events
TERRITORY & CROP FOCUS
This role focuses on the California coastal growing regions, particularly: Salinas, Watsonville, Santa Maria, Paso Robles, Oxnard, and Ventura. Key crops and markets include strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and other berry crops; avocados; citrus (lemons, oranges, navels); cut flowers; celery, lettuce, and other coastal vegetables; and wine grapes. Experience with the region’s major grower operations and distribution networks is highly valued. As the company grows, this territory may expand to include surrounding inland regions.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in agricultural sales, agronomy, or a directly related field
• Demonstrated expertise with the specialty crops along the California coast
• Current Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification required
• Current Pest Control Advisor (PCA) license required
• Strong, established network of grower and distributor relationships in the region
• Ability to travel regularly and extensively throughout the assigned territory
• Proficiency with CRM platforms and standard business software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, crop science, plant pathology, horticulture, or a related field
Preferred:
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with an agricultural distributor selling biological products, OR prior experience at a biological input manufacturer
• Deep familiarity with biostimulant and biocontrol products and the ability to articulate their agronomic value to growers and advisors
• Graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in agronomy, plant science, or a related discipline
• Experience developing and executing grower trial programs
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a fully remote, field-based position. The candidate must reside within or in close proximity to the California coast. Extensive regional travel is expected on a regular, ongoing basis, with approximately 10–15% of time dedicated to computer-based work including CRM updates, email communication, and reporting. Occasional travel to Impello headquarters in Loveland, CO, and other company meetings and events will be required.
