Caribou Medical Center (CMC) is seeking an innovative, strategic, and results-driven Director of Business Funding & Special Projects to help advance the organization's long-term growth, sustainability, and transformation initiatives. This leadership position works directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Leadership Team to identify opportunities, secure funding, lead strategic projects, and support organizational priorities that improve healthcare access and services for the communities we serve.

The Director of Business Funding & Special Projects plays a critical role in driving organizational success through business development, grant and funding acquisition, strategic planning, project management, and healthcare transformation initiatives. This individual will serve as a catalyst for growth by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, coordinating complex projects, and translating organizational objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

This is a full-time, on-site leadership position requiring close collaboration with executive leadership, department directors, community partners, governmental agencies, healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and pursue federal, state, regional, and private funding opportunities that support strategic, operational, and capital initiatives.
  • Develop and submit competitive grant applications, funding proposals, business plans, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor grant and funding compliance requirements and ensure timely reporting and accountability.
  • Lead and coordinate special projects related to Rural Health Transformation, operational improvements, service expansion, facility development, and organizational growth.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic planning, business development, and long-range organizational initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of facility and infrastructure projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, government entities, community organizations, healthcare partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Monitor healthcare trends, regulatory developments, and funding opportunities that impact rural healthcare organizations.
  • Prepare professional reports, presentations, board materials, implementation plans, and business cases to support executive decision-making.
  • Support projects across operations, administration, workforce development, marketing, physician recruitment, community relations, and other strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple departments to ensure projects move efficiently from concept through implementation.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree;
  • Experience in grant writing, government funding applications, business development, healthcare administration, public administration, project management, or a related field preferred;
  • Demonstrated success in developing professional proposals, strategic plans, business cases, or grant applications;
  • Knowledge of grant administration, funding compliance, healthcare regulations, and rural healthcare funding programs preferred;
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management software;
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed for meetings, conferences, and project activities.
