Director of Finance and Administration – Nonprofit (6 month contract)
Location: Washington, DC
Schedule: Three days per week in office
Duration: Six-month contract
Pay: $55–$70 per hour

A nonprofit with a national membership is seeking a hands-on finance professional with HR and benefits administration experience. This person will be directly involved in the daily work, managing budgeting, payroll, insurance open enrollment, audit and Form 990 coordination, and routine administrative needs.
Requirements
- Hands-on nonprofit finance and accounting experience, including budgeting, financial reporting, and daily financial operations.
- Experience coordinating annual audits and Form 990 preparation.
- Practical knowledge of Washington, DC HR requirements and employment practices.
- Direct experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits and insurance.
- Experience managing insurance open enrollment, renewals, and broker relationships.
- Comfortable owning the details and independently executing daily finance, HR, and administrative tasks within a small organization.
Responsibilities
- Handle daily financial operations, maintain accurate records, and monitor expenses.
- Prepare budgets and financial reports for leadership.
- Gather supporting documentation and coordinate with external accountants on the annual audit and Form 990.
- Process payroll and maintain employee pay and benefits information.
- Manage insurance open enrollment, renewals, and employee benefits questions.
- Handle onboarding, employee records, and routine HR administration.
- Manage vendor relationships and day-to-day business and administrative needs.
