We’re looking for Cyber Underwriters to join the founding team of Emergence US. We’re seeking the best talent from across the country, so your location within the United States is flexible.

This is a rare opportunity to help establish Emergence in a new market, shape our local underwriting approach and build broker relationships from the ground up, with the expertise and support of an established specialist agency behind you.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO of Emergence US, you will underwrite new and renewal cyber business across a portfolio of US accounts.

You will work closely with brokers and colleagues to assess cyber risks, develop commercially sound insurance solutions and contribute to portfolio growth, retention and profitability.

As an early member of our US team, your role will extend beyond day-to-day underwriting. You will have the opportunity to influence how we operate in the market, contribute to product and process development and help shape the Emergence culture in the United States.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Review and underwrite new business submissions and renewals in accordance with underwriting guidelines and your delegated authority
• Analyze and clearly articulate cyber risks, referring matters to senior underwriters when required
• Proactively manage underwriting opportunities and maintain accurate, complete records
• Build trusted broker relationships by providing responsive, practical and commercially focused support
• Collaborate with underwriting, business development, claims, incident response, legal and other specialist teams
• Contribute to portfolio growth, retention and profitability objectives
• Monitor market, client and product developments and share relevant insights with the wider team
• Support product development, process improvements and broader business initiatives
• Help establish Emergence’s presence, reputation and ways of working in the US market

About you

We are looking for people with sound judgment, commercial curiosity and the motivation to deepen their specialist cyber expertise.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Underwriting experience in cyber, financial lines or another relevant area of commercial insurance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather information, evaluate risk and exercise sound judgment
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to explain complex risks clearly
• A proactive, results-oriented approach and willingness to take ownership
• The ability to establish effective relationships with brokers, colleagues and other stakeholders
• Comfort working in a fast-moving, evolving environment where you can help create the playbook
• A relevant college degree or professional insurance qualification, which is preferred but not required
• Authorization to work in the United States
