Job Description

Our client is a global trader of agricultural and chemical fertilizers with a strong track record built on long-standing supplier and customer relationships, and a significant share of its business runs through Latin America. The trading team is growing and needs another person to support the desk. This is a great fit for an accountant with a few years under their belt who wants to move closer to the commercial side of the business, and it can open the door to a junior trading role down the road.

What You'll Do

  • You'll be the primary person entering new deal confirmations into the trade management system and keeping organized, up-to-date records on every deal
  • You'll manage each deal from start to finish, tracking allocations, pricing, freight, financing, and accruals
  • You'll work with traders to update and allocate deals, and keep them aware of timelines so sales and purchases happen when they need to
  • You'll serve as the point person on all aspects of a deal, keeping clients informed as situations change
  • You'll coordinate with transshipment companies on operational details and keep a close eye on every cost involved
  • You'll look for creative ways to manage costs and product, with an eye toward protecting margin
  • You'll update deal outlines with sales and purchases, and refresh all formula-priced deals weekly
  • You'll keep international offices updated on deals and changing conditions, and stay current on industry publications

What You Bring

Must-haves:

  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience, including daily and monthly accounting procedures
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to share information clearly with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to work independently while functioning as a true team player across offices
  • Comfortable meeting with clients and suppliers and bringing energy to those relationships
  • Interest in growing into a more commercial, trading-focused role
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish
