About HyperStrong

HyperStrong is a global leader in battery energy storage systems (BESS), providing integrated energy storage solutions and services for utility-scale and commercial applications.

As our business continues to expand across North America, we are looking for a hands-on and business-oriented Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support our growing U.S. and Americas organization.

This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-growing international environment and is comfortable balancing strategic HR partnership with hands-on execution.

Position Overview

HRBP, North America

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Work Arrangement: Hybrid — 1–2 days per week in the Chicago office (zip code: 60606)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Americas HRBP Manager

The HR Business Partner will work closely with business leaders, hiring managers, employees, and global HR teams to support the full employee lifecycle across HyperStrong’s Americas organization.

The role will support a broad range of functions, including Service, Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Finance, and Corporate Operations, with particular exposure to our rapidly growing field service and technical organizations.

The successful candidate will act as both a trusted HR advisor and hands-on operator, supporting workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, payroll coordination, immigration, compliance, and organizational development.

Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to business leaders and managers across the Americas organization.
  • Understand business priorities, workforce needs, and organizational challenges, and translate them into practical HR solutions.
  • Advise managers on organizational structure, workforce planning, employee performance, retention, and talent decisions.
  • Support organizational changes, team growth, and leadership initiatives as the business continues to scale.
  • Build strong working relationships with employees and leaders across technical, field-based, and corporate functions.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Manage and support full-cycle recruiting for technical, engineering, field service, management, and corporate positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define position requirements, candidate profiles, interview processes, and hiring strategies.
  • Conduct candidate sourcing, screening, interviews, compensation discussions, and offer coordination.
  • Develop talent pipelines for hard-to-fill positions within the energy storage and renewable energy industries.
  • Partner with external recruiting agencies and other talent partners when needed.
  • Support headcount planning, compensation benchmarking, and workforce forecasting.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding performance management, workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters.
  • Support performance improvement plans, coaching conversations, investigations, and conflict resolution when necessary.
  • Support annual and ongoing performance review processes.
  • Help managers build stronger teams through effective feedback, employee development, and performance management practices.
  • Identify employee engagement and retention risks and recommend appropriate actions.

HR Operations, Payroll & Benefits

  • Partner with payroll, benefits providers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to support accurate and timely HR administration.
  • Support employee onboarding, offboarding, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Maintain accurate employee data and documentation within HR systems, including ADP Workforce Now.
  • Support U.S. employee benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefit programs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to resolve payroll, benefits, and employee-related issues.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably including HRBP, HR Generalist, People Operations, or similar responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with managers and business leaders.
  • Experience managing or supporting full-cycle recruiting.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and multi-state HR compliance.
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems; ADP Workforce Now experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive employee matters professionally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving, international organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within energy storage, renewable energy, utilities, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or other technical industries.
  • Experience supporting field-based or geographically distributed employees.
  • Experience with compensation benchmarking, workforce planning, or organizational design.
  • Experience coordinating U.S. employment immigration matters.
  • Experience supporting payroll and employee benefits.
  • Experience working in a global or multinational organization.
  • Familiarity with HR operations across Canada or other Americas locations.
  • Bilingual English/Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating beyond a traditional HR administrative role.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Business-minded – understands that HR decisions should support business outcomes.
  • Hands-on – willing and able to execute rather than simply provide recommendations.
  • Adaptable – comfortable working in a fast-growing environment where processes continue to evolve.
  • Collaborative – able to work effectively with U.S. leadership, global HR teams, employees, and external partners.
  • Solutions-oriented – able to identify problems, recommend practical solutions, and follow through until issues are resolved.
  • Employee-focused but commercially aware – able to balance employee experience, compliance, and business needs.
