Job Description

Finance & Accounting Manager

Location: Solon, OH

Base Salary: $95,000–$135,000

About the Position

Kintara is partnering with a venture-backed energy technology company developing next-generation power generation systems for data centers, AI infrastructure, defense, and other demanding applications.

We are seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to help build and own the financial foundation of the organization as it scales manufacturing and deployment.

This is a broader role than a traditional accounting position. This individual will own core accounting operations while also supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash management, and financial decision-making. With no Controller or CFO currently in place, this person will have significant ownership from day one and the opportunity to grow into a Controller-level position as the organization continues to scale.

The ideal candidate combines strong full-cycle accounting experience with the ability to operate as a strategic financial partner to company leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the accounting close process end-to-end, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger integrity.

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable and coordinate payroll processing with the company's provider.

  • Monitor cash runway, payment timing, and liquidity to provide leadership with clear visibility into the company's financial position.

  • Track budget-to-actual performance, identify variances, and communicate findings to leadership.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages, including commentary around performance, variances, and cash position.

  • Support quarterly board and investor reporting.

  • Own accounting and compliance related to government contracts and funding, including milestone billing, reporting, and inventory-related accounting.

  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate payment terms.

  • Own sales tax filings, 1099 preparation, and coordination with external CPA and audit partners.

  • Develop and maintain scalable accounting processes, internal controls, expense policies, and financial procedures.

  • Evaluate and help implement accounting and ERP systems as the organization grows beyond spreadsheets and QuickBooks.

  • Manage relationships with external CPA firms, banking partners, and auditors.

  • Support benefits and insurance administration as needed.

  • Help build, train, and mentor additional accounting and finance team members over time.

Who You Are

  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.

  • Experience owning or playing a significant role in month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.

  • Proven ability to build and improve financial processes, controls, and systems.

  • Comfortable operating as both a hands-on accounting professional and strategic partner to leadership.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Able to work independently and take significant ownership in a lean, growing organization.

  • Experience within manufacturing, hardware, energy, industrial technology, or a startup environment is preferred.

  • Government contract accounting or DoD/DoE funding experience is highly desirable.

  • CPA, MBA, or another advanced accounting or finance credential is a plus.

  • Experience with board, investor, or fundraising reporting is a plus.

  • ERP implementation or accounting system migration experience is desirable.

  • Experience preparing an organization for audited financials or DCAA-compliant accounting is a plus.

  • Previous Controller experience or a demonstrated trajectory toward a Controller position is preferred.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary of $95,000–$135,000.

  • Pre-IPO stock options.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • 401(k).

  • Generous vacation, sick time, and paid holidays.

  • Significant autonomy and ownership within a rapidly growing organization.

  • Opportunity to build the finance function and grow into broader financial leadership responsibilities.

Why Join

This is an opportunity to join a venture-backed energy technology company at a pivotal stage of growth. You'll have the ability to build the financial infrastructure behind a growing manufacturing organization, work directly with executive leadership, and play an important role as the company scales its technology, contracts, and operations.
