Job Description

Associate Infrastructure Engineer

Hybrid | New York City

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Associate Infrastructure Engineer to join a hands-on technology operations team supporting cloud infrastructure, internal IT, and DevOps initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their infrastructure career who wants meaningful production experience and the chance to learn directly from experienced engineers. You will work across AWS, Linux, networking, containers, automation, security, and traditional infrastructure, while gaining exposure to modern technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps, observability, and AI-assisted engineering.

You do not need to know the entire technology stack from day one. We are looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, a genuine interest in infrastructure, and the drive to continuously learn and develop.

What You'll Do

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Maintain, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and containers in AWS
  • Support AWS and Kubernetes environments, including EKS, EC2, S3, VPC, Security Groups, Transfer Family, and IAM
  • Assist with DNS, networking, routing, security, and core infrastructure services
  • Help improve the availability, security, performance, and resiliency of production environments
  • Gain hands-on experience supporting cloud infrastructure operating at production scale

Automation & DevOps

  • Learn and contribute to Terraform, GitHub Actions, and GitOps workflows
  • Gain exposure to platforms such as Argo CD and Kargo
  • Develop scripts using Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell to automate repetitive operational tasks
  • Use AI-assisted development and troubleshooting tools to improve efficiency while validating outputs for accuracy and security

Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting across infrastructure and application environments
  • Work alongside experienced engineers to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Use and improve monitoring, alerting, and observability tools
  • Document incidents and translate lessons learned into improved procedures and runbooks

IT, Identity & Security

  • Support day-to-day internal IT operations, including employee onboarding and offboarding, account management, access controls, and device troubleshooting
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID administration
  • Develop knowledge of traditional Windows infrastructure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and Remote Desktop
  • Help administer business applications, SaaS platforms, and AI tools
  • Apply security best practices including least privilege, system hardening, vulnerability management, and patching
  • Support compliance and information security initiatives related to SOC 2, CIS, and ISO 27001

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, system administration, technical operations, or a related area
  • Internships, substantial home lab experience, technical coursework, and hands-on projects may also be considered
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Comfortable working with Linux from the command line
  • Practical exposure to Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience scripting with Bash and Python; PowerShell experience is a plus
  • Understanding of core security concepts, including least privilege, patch management, and infrastructure hardening
  • Comfortable using AI assistants and AI-driven engineering tools while critically reviewing and validating their output
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation habits
  • Genuine interest in learning new infrastructure, cloud, automation, and DevOps technologies

Nice to Have

Any of the following can help differentiate you, but they are not required:

  • Hands-on AWS experience with services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, or EKS
  • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Exposure to GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Kargo, or other CI/CD and GitOps technologies
  • Familiarity with Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace, Active Directory, OAuth2, or SSO
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Amazon CloudWatch
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, CIS, or ISO 27001
  • Ability to investigate application logs or code in languages such as Python, C#, TypeScript, or C++
  • Certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA Linux+, CKAD, or similar
