Role Description The Director of Nursing – Skilled Home Health is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Fairfax, VA. This role oversees all skilled nursing services, including clinical operations, staff supervision, and coordination of patient care in the home health setting. Daily responsibilities include managing nursing schedules, reviewing and approving care plans, ensuring adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards, and monitoring quality metrics and patient outcomes. The Director of Nursing will mentor and evaluate nursing staff, support onboarding and ongoing clinical education, and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other team members to ensure safe, effective, and timely care. The role also involves participating in strategic planning, supporting agency growth initiatives, and addressing clinical issues or escalations to maintain high standards of service and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and management abilities, including staff supervision, performance evaluation, and team development.


• Clinical expertise in skilled home health nursing, including care planning, assessment, and coordination of services for diverse patient populations.


• Knowledge of home health regulations, accreditation standards, and quality assurance processes, with experience maintaining compliance.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with patients, families, interdisciplinary teams, and external partners.


• Ability to use electronic health records and basic office software to manage documentation, reporting, and workflow.


• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia, in good standing.


• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.


• Several years of progressive nursing experience, including prior leadership experience in home health or a similar care setting.


• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous quality improvement.


• Ability to work on-site in Fairfax, VA, with flexibility to address patient and staff needs as they arise.

Salary range: $115,000 – $135,000 / year
