Private Equity Associate / Senior Associate -- Business Services

Taurus Search is working with an established boutique private equity firm to recruit an Associate or Senior Associate for its Business Services investment team in New York.

This opportunity offers involvement in evaluating and executing new investments, working with portfolio companies and developing as a long-term investor. The team is seeking someone who combines strong financial modelling skills and commercial judgement with the interpersonal ability to build relationships with management teams and colleagues.

Sector focus

Relevant experience includes commercial and industrial services, particularly:

• Commercial HVAC and mechanical services.


• Electrical services and commercial roofing.


• Facilities and field services.


• Utility, power, energy and infrastructure services.


• Broader outsourced business services, including blue- and grey-collar businesses.

Candidates with relevant financial services experience will also be considered.

The role

Working alongside senior investment professionals, you will:

• Evaluate investment opportunities through company, sector and financial analysis.


• Build and assess financial models, valuations and investment-return scenarios.


• Support transaction diligence and execution, identifying key risks and commercial drivers.


• Prepare investment materials and communicate clear, well-supported recommendations.


• Contribute to portfolio-company analysis and initiatives to support growth and value creation.


• Develop relationships with management teams, advisers and other transaction participants.

Candidate profile

The team is interested in both existing private equity investors and investment banking professionals with relevant transaction experience.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

• Strong technical competence, including the ability to build and interrogate financial models.


• Relevant services-sector deal experience and an understanding of the underlying business models.


• Sound investment judgement and the ability to explain the commercial rationale behind an opportunity.


• Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to establish rapport.


• A collaborative approach, intellectual curiosity and the ambition to develop into a senior investor.
