Role Description The Service Writer at Total Automotive LLC is a full-time, on-site role based in Hermitage, TN. This role is responsible for greeting customers, listening to their concerns, and accurately documenting vehicle symptoms and service requests. The Service Writer prepares estimates, explains recommended services, secures approvals, and coordinates workflow between customers and technicians. Daily tasks include answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, updating customers on repair status, and closing out work orders and invoices using shop management software. The role also involves maintaining organized service records, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process, and supporting a positive, professional customer experience.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing abilities, including strong Customer Service and focus on Customer Satisfaction.


• Clear and professional Communication skills, both verbal and written.


• Phone Etiquette and confidence handling inbound and outbound calls.


• Basic Computer Literacy, including use of service management software and standard office applications.


• Attention to detail in documenting vehicle issues, estimates, and repair orders.


• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple customers, and work effectively in a fast-paced shop environment.


• Previous experience in automotive service writing, retail, or another customer-facing role is preferred.


• Familiarity with common automotive services and terminology is an advantage.


• Reliable attendance, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical, transparent service.
