POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Dispatch Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily activities of dump truck drivers and field operations. This position ensures that drivers are dispatched efficiently, routes and job assignments are properly coordinated, equipment is utilized effectively, and customer and project needs are met.

The Field Dispatch Manager serves as the primary communication link between drivers, customers, job sites, management, and the dispatch office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate daily dispatching and scheduling of dump truck drivers.

• Assign drivers and trucks to job sites based on customer needs, truck availability, and project requirements.

• Monitor drivers and trucks throughout the workday to ensure assignments are completed safely and efficiently.

• Communicate with drivers regarding job locations, load requirements, delivery instructions, and schedule changes.

• Maintain regular communication with customers, contractors, supervisors, and job-site personnel.

• Monitor arrival and departure times and address delays, breakdowns, or other field issues.

• Adjust schedules and dispatch assignments as job-site conditions and customer needs change.

• Verify drivers are reporting to the correct locations and completing assigned work.

• Track truck utilization, driver productivity, loads, mileage, and hours as required.

• Assist with resolving customer and driver concerns in a professional and timely manner.

• Coordinate with maintenance personnel regarding truck breakdowns, inspections, repairs, and equipment availability.

• Ensure drivers follow company policies, safety procedures, DOT regulations, and job-site requirements.

• Monitor driver compliance with required documentation, including daily logs, inspection reports, tickets, and other paperwork.

• Report accidents, incidents, equipment problems, and safety concerns to management immediately.

• Assist management with driver performance, attendance, scheduling, and disciplinary issues when necessary.

• Maintain accurate dispatch records and daily operational reports.

• Support the company in maintaining excellent customer service and on-time performance.

• Directly manage a dedicated team of 3-4 Site Specialists.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS & MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

• Must be able to pass a background check.

• Previous experience in trucking, dispatching, transportation, construction, or fleet operations preferred.

• Experience working with dump trucks or construction transportation is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial trucking operations.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple drivers, job sites, and changing priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Must be dependable, professional, and safety-conscious.

• Basic computer skills and ability to use dispatching, GPS, scheduling, or fleet management systems.

• Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, supervisors, and management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Position requires a combination of office/dispatch work and field/job-site activity.

• May require frequent travel to construction sites and customer locations.

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Must be able to respond to operational issues and emergencies as needed.

• Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended hours depending on business and project needs.
