Job Overview
Our client is a leading financial technology company seeking an Accounting Manager to join its Revenue Recognition team. This is a highly visible role focused on technical revenue accounting, process improvement, and ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition under ASC 606.
The position partners closely with Accounting, Finance, IT, Product, Sales, and Marketing teams to evaluate new offerings, business changes, and systems initiatives. The ideal candidate can translate complex accounting guidance into practical business requirements, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive issues through resolution.
Responsibilities
- Lead revenue recognition analysis for new products, services, and business initiatives under ASC 606.
- Develop, maintain, and interpret revenue recognition policies and technical accounting positions.
- Research complex accounting matters and clearly communicate recommendations and conclusions.
- Evaluate end-to-end processes, systems, and controls impacting revenue, deferred revenue, and financial reporting.
- Partner with Product, Finance, IT, Sales, and Marketing to assess accounting and process implications of business changes.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment is documented and accounts are properly prepared, reviewed, and supported.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue processes, systems, reporting, and controls.
- Monitor changes to FASB and SEC guidance and incorporate relevant updates into company policies and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to business and functional teams on revenue recognition requirements.
- Influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of management to drive timely, high-quality decisions.
- Provide coaching and review support to junior team members through a dotted-line structure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong technical accounting and revenue recognition experience.
- Active CPA required.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606, GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong general ledger foundation and understanding of end-to-end accounting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting matters and develop well-supported conclusions.
- Strong analytical, project management, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across Accounting, Finance, IT, Product, Sales, and Marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting matters to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Managerial or team leadership experience strongly preferred, even in an individual contributor capacity.
- Public accounting or internal audit experience is a plus.
- Experience with Oracle R12, BlackLine, Siebel/BRM, Business Objects, or similar financial systems is a plus.

- Hybrid schedule, typically Tuesday through Thursday in the office
- Generally balanced work environment, with October through January being the busiest period.
- Flexible start and end times.
