The Financial Reporting Manager will oversee the preparation and delivery of internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements. This role will play a key part in managing the reporting process, supporting audits, and addressing technical accounting matters within a complex, asset-intensive environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a background in public accounting and/or energy-related industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee external reporting requirements, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), if applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statement disclosures and footnotes, including complex areas such as asset retirement obligations (AROs), impairments, and revenue recognition.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Perform and review technical accounting research and memos for complex transactions.
  • Manage and improve financial reporting processes and internal controls, including SOX compliance if applicable.
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high-performing team environment.
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards and reporting systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required or strongly preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements; SEC reporting experience preferred.
  • Experience in the energy, utilities, or oil & gas sector preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific accounting concepts such as AROs, depletion/amortization, joint interest accounting, or similar.
  • Experience with financial reporting and consolidation systems (e.g., Hyperion, OneStream, Workiva, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
