Our client, a growing construction company in the Charlotte area, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support the financial success of ongoing construction projects. This position will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, job cost accounting, budgeting, and process improvements while partnering closely with project managers and company leadership.

Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports
- Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
- Monitor and analyze project costs, budgets, committed costs, and profitability
- Review and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Lead job costing activities and ensure accurate project accounting
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
- Review construction contracts, change orders, subcontractor agreements, and billing activity
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Support external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
- Partner with project managers and operational leaders to provide financial analysis and project performance insights
- Develop and improve accounting processes, procedures, and reporting capabilities
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Qualifications

- Prior construction industry experience required
- Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and WIP reporting
- Experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end close
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Compensation & Schedule:
- Onsite; Monday – Friday; flexible hours
- $110,000 - $120,000 with a discretionary bonus
