Director of Estimating

We are partnering with a commercial interiors contractor seeking a Director of Estimating to lead its estimating team, strengthen client relationships and help drive business growth.

This opportunity combines technical estimating, team leadership and business development. The right person brings deep experience in commercial drywall, metal framing and interior systems, along with the ability to develop estimators and build relationships with general contractors.

The opening follows the previous leader’s move into a Vice President role.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the estimating department, setting priorities and overseeing bid preparation, review and delivery.


• Review plans, specifications and takeoffs for commercial drywall, metal framing and related interior scopes.


• Validate labor, material, equipment and production assumptions to support accurate, competitive pricing.


• Evaluate scope gaps, exclusions, site conditions and project risks before bids are submitted.


• Partner with operations and field leadership to ensure estimates reflect how projects will be built.


• Develop and mentor estimators, improving consistency, accountability and technical capability.


• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors and key customers.


• Help identify opportunities, evaluate project fit and support proposals and contract discussions.


• Oversee clear handoffs from estimating to project management following award.

What We’re Looking For

• Substantial estimating experience with a commercial drywall or interiors subcontractor.


• Strong technical knowledge of drywall, metal framing and commercial interior construction.


• Experience leading an estimating team or serving as a senior estimating leader.


• Ability to review complex estimates, challenge assumptions and identify financial and execution risks.


• A record of building customer relationships and supporting business development.


• Strong communication and collaboration with estimators, project managers, field leaders and company executives.


• A practical understanding of how bid decisions affect project execution and profitability.

Ideal Background

Candidates may currently serve as a Director of Estimating, Chief Estimator, Estimating Manager or Senior Estimator with meaningful team leadership and customer relationship responsibilities.

This role requires both technical estimating depth and the ability to lead people and help grow the business.
